Our VSMG member, Robert (Bob) Coshland, presented some of his outstanding photographs of his travels across the world, from England, Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, New Zealand, Japan, China, Russia and Mongolia. They include famous sites and unknown places as he traveled for coal mining projects. His discussion of the pictures gives insight into the world he visited.

Sharon Yoon, Attorney, presented a program on Ventura’s Grey Law, a free law service in Ventura County for the elderly. She is a licensed attorney and Certified Specialist by the California State Bar, in estate planning, trust and probate law.

Amy Dilbeck Kiesewetter, Attorney at Law, spoke on legal and financial issues for people facing chronic long-term medical issues for loved ones, among subjects covered by her practice.
Amy's practice focuses on the areas of estate planning, California probate,
trust administration, and litigation. She has represented clients throughout California.
"Being a cancer survivor will always be an important part of my life. It was the most difficult challenge and at the same time it was a great gift. Because of my experience I can empathize with and inspire others."

Bob Warnagieris talked to the group about Electronic Warfare (EW).
Bob covered the beginnings of EW in WWII, what EW entails, and the current importance in the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Mel Felix gave a presentation on historical photographer, Edward Curtis. Between 1900 and 1930, Curtis traveled across the continent photographing more than seventy Native American tribes.

Ventura Community Development Director, Rachel Dimond, provided VSMG Members with an important update on the General Plan, our city’s long-term blueprint for guiding future growth and development for the next 25 years. The updated Land Use Designation Map is available for review, and we encourage all community members to share their feedback now through October 21, 2024. This is an opportunity for you to provide your insights that will help shape Ventura’s future development, housing, transportation, and environmental sustainability

Seeking to empower and better the senior community in Ventura County, Phil Chandler became a Certified Senior Advisor. He started his program with a discussion on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s issues, related support groups and wrap it up with housing options for whatever state an elderly person might be.He understands the desire of seniors to remain independent in their homes. His desire is to offer an affordable, high-quality solution to those that need care in their home. Our VSMG member, Ken Webster, told us about his experience as a US Navy Carrier pilot with over 300 carrier landings. He has a broken Tail-Hook as a souvenir of his flight history.This was a great program. Ken is a very modest Naval Aviator with a number of records to his name. Thanks for a great program, and for your service.

Our speaker was Robert Hamming, Immediate Past Division Commander, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Division 7, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. He provided us with boating safety information --and explained the seriousness of alcohol related water deaths.
